Welcome to the anesthesiology residency website for Maine Medical Center, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We hope that the content presented here is helpful to you whether you are a medical student, resident, SRNA, CRNA, or anesthesiologist.
We are a department made up of approximately 60 anesthesiologists (who are employed in private practice by Spectrum Medical Group), 15 dedicated anesthesia residents (CA1 - CA3), and over 70 very talented CRNA's. We have been fortunate to recruit some incredibly strong clinical teachers from all regions of the country providing rich and in-depth training for our residents. Our department promotes a collegial working environment as members of the OR team and provides the highest standard of patient care.
The department has a dedicated multidisciplinary committee that continually reminds us about the importance of focusing on our patients and building a strong culture within the department. Recently, over 150 department employees and their families attended a Sea Dogs baseball game. The department also works together to offer a themed potluck lunch throughout the year. More evidence of this groups communication and leadership is seen in the department communication below:
Started in 1953, our residency program maintains a tradition of excellent clinical training due to the number and variety of cases and the small size of our residency. In addition, there are no anesthesiology fellows competing for interesting cases. Maine Medical Center provides over 36,000 anesthetics a year at its Bramhall Campus and outpatient surgery sites. The majority of the department's faculty is fellowship trained, and more than half of our residents go on to fellowships. Roughly 25% of our residents have returned to MMC as attendings.
We are very proud of our outstanding program, and again thank you for your interest.
We invite you to contact us with questions.
