Brain Tumor Program
Remission is Our Mission
The Brain Tumor Program, a collaboration between the medical center’s Neuroscience and Cancer Institutes, offers a comprehensive approach to the treatment and care for patients with primary brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors, and patients coping with the neurologic side effects of cancer.
The Brain Tumor Program’s bimonthly clinics are available to patients who have undergone neuro-oncology surgery at Maine Med or any other hospital. Physicians can refer patients to the Program to have their neuro-oncology needs addressed. During their visit, patients and their families meet with a range of specialists, including a medical or neuro-oncologist, radiation oncologist, patient navigator, social worker, nutrition specialist, and palliative care specialist. Together, they discuss follow up, treatment options, and the ins and outs of care. Patients are also given the opportunity to participate in clinical trials that are appropriate for their tumor type.
