Library & Knowledge Services
The Library & Knowledge Services Department is a vital component of Maine Medical Center (MMC), supporting its clinical, educational, research and administrative missions. We are committed to excellence in quality and safety by partnering with our colleagues, supporting best practices and delivering technical and content expertise for patient care, education and research.
Hours and Access
The Library is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Access is by employee badge at all other times. The Library is located on Pavilion C and can be reached by taking the Admitting elevators to the 5th floor and turning right.
In support of the MMC administrative, clinical, educational and research programs, the Library's collection consists of approximately 6,000 books and 650 current journal subscriptions in both print and electronic formats.
The Library's catalog is available to everyone and contains the book and journal holdings of the MMC Library. The electronic resources within the catalog are available onsite and by patrons with remote access privileges.
The Library's book and video collection are available for check out to MMC employees and affiliates. The community is welcome to view the collection on-site. The Library subscribes to hundreds electronic book titles, via STAT!Ref, Books @ Ovid, R2 and Ebsco. These electronic books are also available for use on-site; patrons with remote access privileges may access from off-site.
The Library subscribes to hundreds of print and electronic journals in the clinical sciences and allied health subjects. In total, we can access over 11,000 titles with the addition of titles available from the Maine State Databases. TDNet provides access information or links to our journals whether they are print or online. TDNet is available on-site, and off-site for patrons with remote access privileges.
Our staff is available to help assist you Monday - Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM. We also encourage our patients and families to utilize the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center for help finding additional health information.
