Houlton Internal Medicine
Houlton Internal Medicine is the only group of internists in the southern Aroostook County area. They have an extremely busy practice that includes primary care for a large panel of patients, supervision of a local nursing home, staffing for a rural health center in Washington County, and coverage for more than 700 admissions at the hospital. Their practice provides a full range of internal medicine services, including non-invasive cardiology and emergency medicine. The practice opened in 1980 and currently consists of three physicians and one physician assistant.
Ted Sussman, MD is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, followed by a year of clinical cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He began practicing in Houlton in 1980. He is currently the Chairman of the Intensive Care Committee at Houlton Regional Hospital and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Hassan Abouleish, MD graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston and did his Internal Medicine training at Wake Forest Medical Center. He joined Houlton Internal Medicine in 1990. He is Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Houlton Regional Hospital and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Jon Older, DO graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts and joined Houlton Internal Medicine in 2000. He currently serves as the Medical Director for the Progressive Care Facility at Houlton Regional Hospital as well as for the Congestive Heart Failure/Cardiovascular Disease "ME Cares" study.
