Anesthesiology Scholarly Activity

The department considers academic investigation an important part of education and encourages resident participation in clinical research and scientific presentations. The anesthesiology department employs a full-time research coordinator, Janelle Richard to facilitate research projects on many levels including literature searches and navigating the IRB approval process.

Residents are required to complete a quality improvement project during their residency.  All PGY1 residents participate in a Patient Safety week where they learn about the hospital systems.  All residents participate in a Research Course offered by Maine Medical Center.   Senior residents are scheduled to present at Grand Rounds towards the end of their CA3 year.  All residents are responsible for a keyword presentation to be held during didactic sessions throughout the year.

Our residents receive the support to take part in scholarly activity that includes everything from research, national presentations, chapter writing, quality improvement projects, and Grand Rounds presentations.

Below is just a sample of activity from our department over the past year.
