Welcome to the anesthesiology residency website for Maine Medical Center, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We hope that the content presented here is helpful to you whether you are a medical student, resident, SRNA, CRNA, or anesthesiologist.
We are a department made up of approximately 50 anesthesiologists (who are employed in private practice by Spectrum Medical Group), 15 dedicated anesthesia residents (CA1 - CA3), and approximately 40 very talented CRNA's. Over the years we have been fortunate to recruit some incredibly strong clinical teachers from all regions of the country providing rich and in-depth training for our residents. Our department promotes a collegial working environment as members of the OR team and provides the highest standard of patient care.
Started in 1953, our residency program maintains a tradition of excellence reflected by two recent 5 year ACGME accreditations with another 5 year accreditation expected from this summer's review. We are also clinically quite busy for the size of our anesthesia residency. Maine Medical Center provides over 40,000 anesthetics a year at its Bramhall Campus and outpatient surgery sites. The majority of the department's faculty is fellowship trained, and more than half of our residents go on to fellowships as well. In fact, in each of the last two classes, four out the five graduating residents chose to pursue fellowships and landed positions at top academic centers. And we are fortunate that several of our residents stay with us after their residency training or return to our group after their fellowship is complete.
We are very proud of our outstanding program, and again thank you for your interest.
