How to Apply - Information Session
Maine Medical Center's CNA program is an 11-week, day program, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Ten (10) days of the program are from 6:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The course is run three times a year (September, January, March). The specifics of the program (and an opportunity to ask questions) are provided at the Information Session.
In order to be considered for our CNA course, you MUST attend an Information Session. All Information Sessions begin at 6:00 p.m. The Information Session to accept students for our September 2013 class will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Dana Center Auditorium. Registration is required to attend the Information Session. To register for the Information Session, email Beth Turner at turneb@mmc.org. including your name and phone number. Reminders will NOT be sent out so mark the date in your calendar. TABE testing (a reading comprehension test) – which is mandatory - will be administered during the Information Session. Applicants to the CNA Program can take the TABE test only once during a year (a year from the date of the last TABE test taken)..
You must attend the information session and bring a completed application packet in order to be considered for the class.
To apply, you must take the TABE reading test at the Information Session and receive a score of 11 to 12.9. We will administer the TABE test at the Information Session.
When you attend the information session, you must bring a completed application packet with you. A completed application packet consists of:

Two (2) copies of a picture ID with signature (driver's license or State ID card)

Copy of proof of High School Graduation or equivalency

Two (2) copies of Social Security Card

Signed SBI (State Bureau of Investigation) form (page 6 of Aplication)

Submit, in sealed envelopes, two (2) professional written references from people in leadership capacity only, for example, current and past supervisors. If you have not been employed for the last few years, another source of reference such as teacher, volunteer group leader, or clergy are acceptable.
Please be sure that you bring photocopies of documents that we can keep, as we will be unable to make copies for you.
Following the Information Session, applications will be reviewed and selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview,.
