Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) Team

Carry out core activities directly with patients at the bedside (see previous volunteer programs). Other volunteer opportunities include shorter shifts to do specific activities. Opportunities include serving tea and beverages, playing games or cards, playing an instrument or singing, providing posters or simple decorations for holidays and special occasions, and reading to patients or writing letters.

All volunteers must be available to commit at least six months. Volunteers undergo extensive classroom and one-on-one training. For more information about becoming a volunteer, contact Holly Bean, CTRS, Elder Life Specialist/Volunteer Coordinator, (207) 662-6353. Or, you can contact MMC's Volunteer Services Department, (207) 662-2205.
