Physicians

The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Maine Medical Center includes physicians who are Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Michael G. Pinette, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Medical Director, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Dr. Pinette has been practicing in Portland since 1989. He is an honors graduate of Dartmouth Medical School in 1983 and was a resident in obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard’s Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, followed by a two-year fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Connecticut in Hartford. Dr. Pinette has published extensively in obstetrical and ultrasound literature and is a senior member of the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine. He is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Pinette and his family reside in Cape Elizabeth.


Jacquelyn Blackstone, D.O.
Medical Director, Family Birth Center 
Dr. Blackstone received her pre-medical education at the University of Southern Maine and graduated from the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Jersey City Medical Center and completed a two-year fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at New York University. She is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Blackstone also holds a degree in Studio Art from New York University and taught art prior to going to Medical School. She has practiced at Maine Medical Center since 1993. She continues to have a strong interest in the Arts and resides with her family in Portland.


Joseph Wax, M.D.
Dr. Wax joined the group in October 2000. A Colgate College and New York Medical College graduate, he completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, and a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at John’s Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Wax served as Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and has published extensively in the field of high risk obstetrics and ultrasound. He is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Wax and his family live in Oxford.
