| Division of Nephrology
The Nephrology Division provides a full range of clinical services. Nephrologists are called in for consultation on a wide spectrum of kidney diseases including obstetrical complications of high risk pregnancies, congenital abnormalities, complications of vascular disease and surgery, hypertensive crisis, nephrolithiasis, endocrine and metabolic disorders, complications of malignancy, and complex multitrauma injury. Acute renal failure, overdoses and intoxication are treated using hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, hemoperfusion, continuous renal replacement therapy and related methods.
Since Maine Medical Center is a major tertiary hospital in northern New England, the Nephrology Division is a referral center for complex clinical problems.
Division of Nephrology Staff
The Nephrology Division is staffed by nine board-certified nephrologists, three pediatric nephrologists, a nephropathologist, and a PhD immunogeneticist. Four other board-certified nephrologists are on the courtesy staff. The Division maintains an active nephrology research program and several members of the Division have been published in peer-reviewed journals. The Nephrology Fellowship Program is fully accredited and has been in operation since 1991. Meet our staff.
