Crisis Counseling
Medical illness creates special
challenges for patients and their families. Emotional
distress at such times is normal reaction for many
people.
Medical Crisis Counseling is a short-term, structured
service that helps chronically ill patients and their
families cope with the emotional issues they must face
during long-term illness.
Medical Crisis Counseling can be helpful:
- at the time of diagnosis
- when leaving the hospital
- when the illness worsens
The Patient and Family Services department at Maine
Medical Center offers Medical Crisis Counseling as a
resource to patients and families.
For more information, please call the
department at 662-2261.
