East Tower Opening Celebration

Maine Medical Center celebrated the opening of the East Tower on September 6. This patient-and-family-centered building is the new home of Maine Medical Center's women and infants' services and future home of an expanded Emergency Department. The celebration included opening remarks by Richard Petersen, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Maine Medical Center, as well as Governor John Baldacci and Meg Baxter, Chair of the MMC Board of Trustees. The video "Building Futures"  was shown highlighting the process of building the East Tower. (see link to video below)

Interim President and CEO Rich Petersen said, "The combined efforts of each individual - thousands of them - are indeed what made this East Tower a reality."

Maine Governor John Baldacci called MMC a "true community partner, dedicated to patient-focused care."

Rich thanked Meg Baxter, Chair of the MMC Board of Trustees, for its support.

Hector Tarraza, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, addressed the gathering.
