Residencies - OB/GYN

Applying

Maine Medical Center participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), and all PGY-1 residents in the institution are selected by this process. All applications will be handled according to the rules of the plan. We use the electronic residency application service (ERAS).

In addition to the completed ERAS  application, every applicant must provide a transcript of grades, Dean's Letter (Medical Student Performance Evaluation) and three letters of recommendation. US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) Step I scores are required for consideration of all applications.  USMLE Step 2 scores and COMLEX scores should be submitted if taken.   We ask each applicant to make every effort to get all information to us by October 15th. After all of these materials have been received, the application will be reviewed and a decision made concerning a personal interview. Within two weeks of receiving your completed application, we will notify you by letter about whether or not we are able to offer you an interview.

If an interview is granted, the letter will request that you call the department to arrange the interview. Should you need additional information or would like to speak with someone in our office, call Cindy Croteau, administrative assistant and program coordinator, at (207) 662-2749.

Interviews are scheduled from the beginning of November through the beginning of January.  We have a committed group of core physicians who volunteer to interview every year, and include residents as formal interviewers.  Candidates will have opportunities to discuss the program with the Residency Director, faculty, and residents, and to tour the hospital and outpatient facilities. The interview day begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends in the early afternoon.  Candidates are highly encouraged to arrive for interviews the evening before to participate in pre-interview day dinners, hosted by one of the residents.
