The 12-step program is offered twice a week at the below times. AA is free of charge.

Arthritis Foundation Aquatics Program
This exercise program for people with arthritis is unique because it takes place in the therapeutic pool in our Physical Rehabilitation Department. Physician approval and registration are required. There is also a nominal fee per session. For more information, call 207-743-1562 ext. 447.

Smoking Cessation
Support your efforts to quit smoking through attending smoking cessation classes. Sponsored by Healthy Oxfords Hills. Call 207-743-5933 ext. 775 or ext. 776 for more information or to register.

Vital Connections
This program provides cardiac rehabilitation to people who have a history of angina or who have had a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, angioplasty, or heart valve surgery. It also provides pulmonary rehabilitation to people who suffer from chronic lung disease. Vital Connections is an exercise and education program offering rehabilitation in a supervised and monitored environment. Classes are offered throughout the year. Prospective patients must be referred to the program by their physician. The program fee is covered by many insurance plans. Call 207-743-1562 ext. 334 for more information.

Grief Support

I Can Cope
This cancer support program is co-sponsored by Stephens Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society. The I Can Cope program consists of a series of six classes. The program is free of charge but registration is required. Patients, family and friends are welcome. Call 207-743-1562 ext. 379 for available times.

Diabetes Education Program
Staffed by two certified diabetes educators through the American Diabetes Association, the SMH Diabetes Education Program offers valuable insights into the self-management of diabetes. Classes are held at least six times each year. Some are one-day sessions, while others are taught evenings for several weeks. National and Maine standards are used so MaineCare, Medicare and private insurance will cover the cost of these classes. Please speak with your physician for a referral, then call Pat Watson, R.D., C.D.E. at 207-743-1562, ext. 420 and leave a message with a time to return your call.

First Aid & CPR
PACE Ambulance Service offers a variety of community first aid and CPR courses for community members and healthcare providers. Classes include basic first aid/CPR and recertification. Courses change monthly. Call 207-743-1562 ext. 700 for current classes and fee information.

Siblings Class
The Family Birthplace center at Stephens Memorial Hospital offers a class for new big brothers and sisters throughout the year. This class is intended for children ages 3 to 7 years old. Call 207-743-1562 ext. 380 for more information.
