History
The Health Information Library of Stephens Memorial Hospital was established with the aid of a grant awarded by the Betterment Fund of the Bingham Foundation, and with support from the 1994 Annual Fund of Western Maine Health Care. The library opened in June 1996, with two end-user computer workstations, a circulating book and video collection, twenty different consumer health magazine subscriptions, newsletters and journals, and an extensive health pamphlet collection. The resources are multimedia in format and are intended for use by the general public. The Health Information Library is separate from the Stephens Memorial Hospital Medical Library.
In 2009, the
Library became a campus of the MaineHealth Learning
Resource Centers offering educational health-related
classes to the Oxford Hills Community.
The Library at the
MaineHealth Learning Resource Center is open to the
public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m.
