Neilson appointed Chief of Surgery at Stephens Memorial Hospital

NORWAY, ME –   Robert C. Neilson, D.O. was recently appointed to Chief of Surgery at Stephens Memorial Hospital by Kate Herlihy, M.D., Medical Staff President.    Dr. Neilson currently practices as part of Western Maine Surgery, an affiliate of Western Maine Health.

Dr. Neilson came to Western Maine Surgery from Portland Surgical Associates where he practiced for 22 years; during that time he was affiliated with Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital, serving as Chief of Medical Staff at Mercy Hospital in 2005.  Neilson attended medical school at Kansas City of Osteopathic Medicine.  He completed his internship at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine and performed two general surgical residencies – one at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital and one at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine.  Dr. Neilson is board certified by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.

Dr. Neilson resides in Portland, with his wife, Margaret.
