Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation Members Meet

Members of the Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation (SCHF) met on Wednesday, May 21st in the Harper Conference Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital. 

Rev. Don Mayberry, Chairman of the Western Maine Health (WMH) Board welcomed the group of attendees and led the business meeting and introduced the newest members of the Western Maine Health board, David Preble and Lynn Hamper. 

Timothy A. Churchill, President and Chief Executive Officer of WMH presented the 2007 Annual Report as well as outlining the goals for 2008 before he introduced speaker Robert McArtor, MD, MPH, the Clinical Advisor for MaineHealth.  McArtor has been employed with MaineHealth for 10 years, first as Chief Medical Officer and now as Clinical Advisor.  McArtor attended Medical School at Duke University School of Medicine and earned his Masters of Public Health at the University of Michigan.  Prior to joining MaineHealth he was a member the Director of Maine Medical Center Family Practice and served as Chief of the Department of Family Medicine at Maine Medical Center.

At the meeting, McArtor addressed the partnership of Western Maine Health with MaineHealth and their work on quality improvement, safety, and the issues of chronic illness.  He shared that there are many members of the Western Maine Health team who are involved at a MaineHealth level working towards improving care and safety.  He stated his goal is for all Boards of Trustees to spend as much time working on quality and safety as they do financial tasks.

The Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation directs the fundraising and philanthropic activities of Western Maine Health, including Stephens Memorial Hospital.
