SMH RNs Attend Nursing Excellence Conference in San Diego

Stephens Memorial Hospital, a member of the MaineHealth® family, is pleased to announce that 10 registered nurses recently returned from a 3 day conference that focused on acknowledging nursing excellence by attaining Magnet Recognition©.

Magnet Recognition© is a program of the American Nurses Credentialing Center that credentials hospitals who meet strict criteria of excellence. It is earned by presenting evidence of nursing leadership that is staff nurse driven, evidence based practice, commitment to and involvement in the community, nurses as teachers, and other indicators. Although the program focuses on nursing, all areas of the hospital must show equal commitment to excellent patient care in order for a hospital to become credentialed. Maine Medical Center, also a member of the MaineHealth family, achieved Magnet status in 2006.

Attendees from Stephens Memorial Hospital included Alison Newton, RN, and Nisa Noble, RN, BSN, Level III, from the Family Birthplace; Jen Spencer, RN, Sue Rosenberg, RN and Jen Jones, RN from Medical Surgical; Ashley Barlow, RN, ICU;  Beverly Snow, RN, and Diane Morrison, RN, BSN, Surgical Services; Lori Cummings, RN, Endoscopy; and Barrett Pottle, RN, BSN, Administrative Supervisor.
