SMH Patients & Staff Enjoy the Art of Suzanne Hardy

Western Maine Health President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy A. Churchill has announced that Norway artist Suzanne Hardy is currently exhibiting her work at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, a show which will remain thru the end of October.

Suzanne Hardy has loved art all of her life.  She took many art classes, was on the Art Honor Society of her high school, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Art.  After living briefly in Portland, Maine, she and husband Dr. Gregory Hardy, settled in Connecticut.  While he was in Medical School, Suzanne worked as a computer operator, as well as in the accounting department at a law firm in Hartford, CT.

When the family moved to Norway in the early 1990s, Suzanne was busy raising sons Sean and Alex, however, her art worked its way back into her life.  After joining the Western Maine Art Group Suzanne served on the Board for a couple of years.  She also took lessons from local artists Barbara Traficonte and Lee Bean, of whom she states are, "wonderful artists who helped me a great deal in getting back into art."

Suzanne works in pastels, watercolors, acrylics, pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink; and recently she painted an "ARTirondak Chair" for auction at the Mollyockett Day in Bethel, sponsored by the Mahoosuc Arts Council.  Inspirations for her works come from travel, and photographs she has taken of beautiful landscapes or wildlife; she also enjoys still life.  Suzanne has been commissioned by people to paint family portraits as well as paintings of their
