ER RNs Attend National
Glover, RN, MSN, Nurse Director of Emergency Services at
Stephens Memorial Hospital and Joanne Moulton, RN, an
emergency service staff nurse recently attended the
national Emergency Nurses Association Scientific
Assembly in Minneapolis, MN.
annually, the assembly represents the largest
educational session for emergency nursing in the world,
attended by over 2500 nurses from the United States and
abroad. The conference, which ran from September
25-28, featured world renowned nursing experts in the
field of emergency nursing and health care. The
educational sessions, held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
highlighted a broad range of topics from Emergency
department overcrowding and enhancing patient flow to
the latest in coronary care.
scientific assembly was preceded by the ENA General
Assembly, which is the voting body of the 35,000 member
organization. The General Assembly is responsible
for developing and adopting position statements related
to ENA's endorsement of various safety and health
related campaigns. Maine Emergency Nurses Association
was represented in the General Assembly by 5 voting
members, chosen from MENA membership.
Nurse Glover is a MENA Board member
and has served in various capacities within that
organization for 20 years. She has been the nurse
manager of Emergency Services at Stephens Memorial since
1981. Nurse Moulton has been employed at SMH since 1983,
first in the Intensive Care Unit and for the past 4
years in Emergency Services.
