ER RNs Attend National Conference

Darlene Glover, RN, MSN, Nurse Director of Emergency Services at Stephens Memorial Hospital and Joanne Moulton, RN, an emergency service staff nurse recently attended the national Emergency Nurses Association Scientific Assembly in Minneapolis, MN.

Held annually, the assembly represents the largest educational session for emergency nursing in the world, attended by over 2500 nurses from the United States and abroad.  The conference, which ran from September 25-28, featured world renowned nursing experts in the field of emergency nursing and health care. The educational sessions, held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. highlighted a broad range of topics from Emergency department overcrowding and enhancing patient flow to the latest in coronary care.

The scientific assembly was preceded by the ENA General Assembly, which is the voting body of the 35,000 member organization.  The General Assembly is responsible for developing and adopting position statements related to ENA's endorsement of various safety and health related campaigns. Maine Emergency Nurses Association was represented in the General Assembly by 5 voting members, chosen from MENA membership.

Nurse Glover is a MENA Board member and has served in various capacities within that organization for 20 years. She has been the nurse manager of Emergency Services at Stephens Memorial since 1981. Nurse Moulton has been employed at SMH since 1983, first in the Intensive Care Unit and for the past 4 years in Emergency Services.
