The small town of Moody is located along the coast between York and Ogunquit, approximately 36 miles south of Portland. The town has a year round population of about 10,000. Tourism plays an important role in the town, as only 2/3 of the approximately 7,000 homes in the area are occupied year round. The other 1/3 are occupied in the summer months mostly by out-of-state vacationers. Area public beaches include the Ogunquit/Moody Beach, Wells Beach, Kennebunkport Beach, Parson's Beach, and York Beach. The Nubble Light, located in nearby York, is also a favorite attraction to both natives and vacationers.
For those looking for something to do in the area, there is plenty to keep you busy. The Ogunquit Playhouse offers plays, musicals, and children's theatre. Golf and mini-golf places are plentiful as well as sightseeing tours and fishing guides and cruises. The Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve is a 1,600-acre facility offering hiking trails and an ecology center. The town even runs a trolley that takes visitors around town and to nearby beaches.
